It’s time for Puppy Yoga at Northaven Trail, and what could be more fun? This event has really grown over the past two years and there are now more tickets available for the October 20th class. And look at all the cool sponsors who are participating! Ticket sales benefit Artists for Animals and Operation Kindness.
Our Tiny Dog Calendar contest is complete and we sold a record number 15,695 votes! This money will be distributed via grants to a variety of local animal rescue groups within the next couple of months. This is how we all save lives and help relieve overcrowding in local area shelters — SO THANK YOU FOR YOUR VOTES- and congratulations to our winners!
If you’re a member of an animal rescue group in the north Texas area and would like to apply for a grant, please email us at email@example.com with the subject line that reads: GRANT PROPOSAL REQUEST and we will email you the appropriate form!
Voting is almost half over and we’re a whisker away from 6000 votes! What’s your voting strategy? Waiting until the last minute might and then spending the whole amount? That might sound like the thing to do, but you’re voting blind that last evening and hanging back doesn’t incentivize the pack!
If some of our dogs in the middle of the race think they’ve “got it made” they might not try as hard — and we all need a dangling carrot (um, er, bone?) once in a while. So why not do half now and save half for the finish line?
Whatever your strategy, we’re so very grateful for your support — and may the best dogs win!
We’re almost ready to send these beautiful dogs out to FETCH some votes! Our annual calendar contest starts August 15th with 28 local dogs competing for your attention. Each vote costs $1 and 100% of the voting proceeds go to the Artists for Animals Grant fund to be disbursed annually to a variety of animal rescue organizations in our local (Dallas) area. For more information about the groups we have supported in the past, visit the WE SUPPORT page. This year’s goal is to raise $20,000 — so vote often and share the link for voting with your friends!
Erin Hannigan, Dallas Symphony Orchestra Principal Oboe (Nancy P. & John G. Penson Chair), is one of just five orchestra musicians from across the U.S. who will receive Ford Musician Awards for Excellence in Community Service from the League of American Orchestrasat the League’s 73rd National Conference in Chicago, June 13-15, 2018. Recognizing the transformative power of music, the Awards honor those in the orchestra field who employ music for the benefit of the greater community.
The awardees’ impact has been deep and life-changing; in partnership with their orchestras and organizations, the musicians have used music to engage, inspire and heal multiple populations: Latino children and teens, rural communities with limited access to quality music education, cancer patients and their families, the homeless and housing insecure, and visual and performing artists united in support of sheltered animals.
“Erin Hannigan is a wonderful orchestra citizen. She really cares about the Dallas Symphony and being involved in our community,” says Kim Noltemy, President & CEO of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. “We are so proud that she is receiving this well-deserved honor.”
Our SEVENTH annual Concert for Kindness will feature all the wonderful music, photography and artwork you’ve loved in the past — plus, of course, the lovely wine and nibbles from the wonderful caterers who perform their magic at the Meyerson Symphony Center ( can you SMELL the bread pudding?) — so don’t delay. This beautiful intimate performance space (formerly known as Dallas City Performance Hall) only holds so many! Click here to buy your tickets — or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org if your firm or group would like to purchase a sponsorship. It’s a one-of-a-kind event benefiting Operation Kindness,
Drumroll, please. The Artists for Animals board met last week and voted on which of the many deserving groups that applied will be receiving Grants from AFA for 2017.
We loved reading about all of the wonderful projects and initiatives that are “in the pipeline” for Dallas area rescue organizations. We’re proud to be able to help. The following groups have been notified that their “checks are in the mail”!
